My research explores how emerging digital tools can be translated into physical objects and fabrication processes. I am especially interested in moments where an image, model, or dataset must pass through a sequence of tools, molds, machines, and hand processes before becoming a functional object.

Recent work has focused on digital-to-metal casting, using generative design and AI-assisted modeling tools to develop forms that are refined in CAD, resin 3D printed, molded in high-temperature silicone, and cast in tin-bismuth alloy. This process treats digital fabrication not as an endpoint, but as an intermediary between computational design and traditional metalworking.

A parallel area of research uses laser engraving, masking, and layered paint application to build images from the reverse side of transparent materials such as acrylic. I have developed a CMYK backpainting protocol that separates images into cyan, magenta, yellow, and black channels, translating each channel into a distinct etched or painted layer. By adapting principles from four-color printing to laser fabrication, the process explores how photographic and graphic imagery can be reconstructed through physical depth, transparency, registration, and material.
